Srinagar, December 09 (KNO) : Three Militants were killed and 5 Security Forces injured in an encounter in Mujgund area on the Outskirts of Srinagar district here on Sunday. The gunfight broke out in the Saturday evening, when security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Ghat mohalla of Mujgund after inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.  An official told KNO that, As soon as Forces Sealed all Entry and exit points of the area, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately on the force personnel. The fire was returned by the troops, triggering an encounter. The encounter continued for More than 18 hours during which all three militants were killed, the official said. Police official confirming about the killing of three Militants in the Operation at Ghat Mohalla of Mugund area, however their identification is yet to be ascertained. Incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, have been recovered from the encounter site. The house in which the militants were hiding was damaged during the Gunfight. Meanwhile, Police urged citizens not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. “People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any,” he added.  Meanwhile, reports reaching KNO that Massive Clashes broke out between youth and government forces near Encounter site following the killing of militants in a Gunfight. Witnesses said soon after the killing of three militants in a gunfight at Mujgund, groups of youth took to streets in the area. Local Sources said that youth threw stones towards government forces who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells, triggering clashes. Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in the area as a “precautionary measure.”(KNO)
